 gtr prop rebuild
thinking about getting my old gtr35 props rebuilt - have 4 old ones - damn venice sand & early experience of not getting my ass out the boat. they range from 10.5 to 11.25". my friend's father in law has a prop shop in florida & while he specializes in hatteras type boats, i'm thinking he has done some for mud engines before. anyway, anything special i need to tell him - or if he doesn't have gtr35 prop experience, do i need to get him a new one in his hands? around a yr ago, i brought the 10.5 to a local prop shop & they said don't waste your time - so i'm wondering if this could all be a waste of time/$. thanks

 Re: gtr prop rebuild
Could the guys running 23's have those rebuilt for their motor? Or is it still a waste of time?

 Re: gtr prop rebuild
If they are junk i'll take one so i can use it as a new prop and i will work fine on my 23hp. if not i can make a 9 incher out of it.

 Re: gtr prop rebuild
Why couldnt you take a brand new one to them and they copy it and build the other just like it?

 Re: gtr prop rebuild
You can rebuild them back up. I spoke to a prop shop about them being rebuilt, and he said he would have to add material to get it back to stock shape and form. The problem lied in the filler material being softer than the prop itself so possibly it could work in the clear water, but it will wear really fast in the mud.

 Re: gtr prop rebuild
Oh i see why you pay 150 to rebuild it and it wear twice as fast just better to get a new one!
But i wounder about running a 35gtr wore prop on a 23gtr what it would put out?

 Re: gtr prop rebuild
So wouldnt a worn down big blade not be as effecient as a 11" tulip prop for the 23 GTR?

 Re: gtr prop rebuild
Yea i ran them also, But the reason i am asking is because he would still need to get the big blade props worked on so he should just by a new 11" prop. Talking about clickster.
