Had some oil coming out of the tower vent this AM. Figured it was the prop seal. When I changed one out on the 27 I had, and you could see the oil coming out of the seal too. Took the plugs out to drain it, had some water at the lower plug but I don't see any oil coming out of the seal. Any of you have a bad seal that doesn't leak oil/water out? Can it just pull it in and not let it back out of the seal? Thanks in advance. |

The centrifugal force sucks it up. Mine never leaked out the seal either. Same way it blows it out the top. |

med, when you get yours and the seal goes out, send in the old one for a $50 credit. |

If you only THINK you have a leaking seal, change the gear lube a time or 2 before deciding for sure. I change mine every couple months whether I need it or not. Its cheap enough. I have pulled fishing line off the prop shaft and had milky gear lube. Changed it out and then when I rechecked a few weeks later it was fine. I think chit can wrap the prop shaft and cause a lttle water to be pulled in but not actually damage the seal. A little off colored gear lube is not a worry either and unless water is actually running out when you pull the plug you will be fine. The new grease filled lower is supposed to have put an end to the leaks. |
