 sending the prop in
Im sending my prop in while its still a 12.25 dia. My big blade is a 12x10 and im only running 27 28 mph yeah i hit 30 with a tailwind downstream on the river but not satisfied. I talked to hopkins and he said that since I have the 45 with all its upgrades he can pitch it up to 13 or 13.5 and put heavier cups on it and it should hold a consistent 30 or low 30's no problem all for around 130 bucks. I asked if he could put some art grinds just aesthetics he said no problem. Im sending it off tomorrow. I'll update after its said and done. Has anyone else done this before?

Definitely update us. I'm interested in the same thing. I have a 48 bottom gear and still turn more rpms than I want.

 Re: sending the prop in
With a Mag 5500, I had a new one turned up to a 13 & it was too much. I'd try no more than 12x12 if I were you. Had another that was worn down to 10-1/2 diameter turned up to 13 & it was bad ass. Ran higher speeds & lower rpm then a brand new stock prop.

 Re: sending the prop in
I think im still gonna go ahead with the 13 pitch. like you said as the prop wears over time i can hold on to the performance but hopkins said that i should be able to turn it over, I may stop at 12 who knows yet thanks for ur input. if it don't do good then ill get another prop. but its gotta get me down the river better than a cup-less 10. I know MB says the mercury big blade is the best, but its still a cup-less china prop i don't care what the site says.

 Re: sending the prop in
13P was too much for a Stage III GTR over here too... We could never get it to turn over 4000 RPMS without sacrificing speed. Good luck in your endeavor & future paper weights.

 Re: sending the prop in
I would go with the 13p. I just purchased one a few weeks ago and have been running it for the last couple of weekends. From the sounds if it we have about the same up grades. To be honest I almost wish I would have went with the 14. With the silencer in my exhaust I do need to trim it up some but still runs great(dont loose speed). With the silencer out, I have no problem running the prop to 4600+ and at the rate it climbs i would be willing to bet i could get damned close to the 5100 limiter. Have no problem turning the needed rpms even when trimmed down.
