 Replacing the driveshaft??
Can anyone tell me if this is a pain in the ass? I have an '05 threaded prop that simply won't come off. I've tried everything heat, torque, cutting, you name it. Now I'm breaking tilt/trim units......so I'm down to replacing the drive shaft. I'm sure I can't afford a new outdrive.
Any pointers would be great. I already have a replacement prop and belt, so I'm hoping a driveshaft swap is feasable. Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming it a gd just undo bolt on u joint and tap the shaft out. A new shaft is $65

 Re: Replacing the driveshaft??
Yah, it's a M/B. I saw a post on here asking why so many M/B guys ask questions on the forums? It's because you can never reach Micah or Justin @ M/B. No reply to e-mails or voice mails.
I hope the D/S is an easy swap. I need to also replace the tilt/trim piston and I hope to get this baby in the water. I just got heads, carb, intake/exhaust done and want to see how it pushes.

 Re: Replacing the driveshaft??
Finally got ahold of M/B. It turns out that they don't even supply the driveshaft any more, 36". He said I would have to buy a complete outdrive, @ $650.
I removed my O/D and I'm gonna pull the driveshaft myselft and see what I can do. I think I'll be looking into a Pro-drive in the future.

^ Don't mind him. He has a GoDevil. What do you mostly run? Marsh, timber, lakes, swamp?

I'm a sheet metal guy and work nightly with machinists. It just pisses me off that I can't get parts for a motor that's only 7 years old.

 Re: Replacing the driveshaft??
^ive done this for a longtail and it only cost $60 total (materials and labor) should be closer to $40 for a shorter shaft.
