Looking to re-gear my GD, comes stock with a 34 tooth 8P 50mm pulley up top. I was looking for an opinion from somebody with some experience with pulleys if going up to a 36 tooth would be worth while, or if a 38 tooth would be better. Not sure what the bottom pulley is, whatever would make it a 1 1:5 ratio. Going to be building the motor into a BD5500 running the stock GD 3 blade prop. I think this should be a good pulley to try out if the math adds up. You mean a HD 5500 or as its called now, the 5500 B.A.M.F. The BD 5500 is just heads, twin mikunis and exhaust |

Whatever you would call a motor with heads, q-pipe, mikuni carb, bps rods, pistons, cam, rockers and pushrods in a CDI configuration. |

I thought about doing that but it would still affect your bottom end. Meaning you won't have as much grunt in the mud but yes may have a little more top end. IMO a MM needs the bottom end more important than the top. 4300 rpms isnt bad at all. Mine is running that and runs between 32-35 depending on how shallow. I really could care less about more speed. |

I guess we will see how much it affects the bottom end grind, I'm going to order it and see what happens. Doesn't look like anyone here has posted any good results of it yet. I was able to get 31 with a fresh prop in deep water, I wore it down a little bit and the last time I had it out I was able to run 28 in deep water. I will be adding a cam and the 36 tooth pulley this time around. coco doesn't sell a pulley so I will just have to order a generic 8 pitch 36 groove 50mm pulley with a 1610 bushing. |

Had it out today all put back together, was able to run 29.3 by myself and 28.3 with a buddy. Not any real gain in speed but I think the cam helped with the load carrying a little bit. The bottom end is just as snappy as it used to be. I run 4150-4250 now. |
