Ok my shaft has a rattling sound and there is a little play up and down .. not any noticeable side to side .. is that normal wear .. it looks fairly simple to repair .. is it ? Any tricks I need to know ?

Normal for a copperhead. It'll happen time and time again

Grease the crap out of it. And make sure you grease it before every outing. It will save on the wear of the bushing.

Its not bad but, the hub is screwed to the shaft housing with reverse threads. It also has red loctite so it needs to be heated. The gear for the belt at the rear of the prop shaft comes of easy with a light impact with allen head adapter. Use the prop shaft to tap out the bushing. I like the idea u got for the bushing. let us know if it works.

Also I think you can over grease it and blow out the prop shaft seal.

Oh snap .. I have to take the shaft off ... Is the bushing that tight ? I think I can get it off without pulling lower unit apart ... Has anyone tried to pull bushing without dis assembling shaft ... Only thing I'm worried about on teflon bushing is high revaluation... We use em in a lot lower rpms ...

You can remove the prop shaft seal but not the brass bushing. It needs to be tapped out a little bit all the way around till its out.
