Guys, I'm looking for alternative methods for removing a prop. I've tried leverage and heat. The prop from hell isn't moving.

What kind of motor?

Lock Up the clutch or drive, drill a hole that will fit over the shaft 6" from the end of a 6' 2x4. You can get plenty of leverage and the blade will bite the board. Worked for me.

It's an '05 mudbuddy. I've made a "prop removal too" with a piece of aluminum fence post over it for leverage. I'm just short of tearing up my outdrive.

I'm not familiar with with outdrives but cant you just weld a bar to the prop and then get a cheater bar on a wrench and push them straight to the ground for leverage? I would block up the skid plate so I didnt put all of the force of two grown men on my trim unit...

Threaded props can suck. Good luck with it.

u can cut it up to the threads then open with chisel

I use neverseize on threads

strap yur outdrive down tight and use a block of wood and a sledge hammer.

Price out what a new shaft would cost you. Might be worth an extra $$$ to just leave the prop on the shaft and the whole thing out of the drive.

I had to do that several years ago on one of mine that I couldn't budge.

I would destroy the shaft in anger before I dissembled it.......I promise you that!

Steel bar, 1/4 in thick about 3 foot long. Drill hole big enough to go over shaft, probably about 1 in diameter. Put prop nut back over top. Block off drive shaft ( I bent 2 bars of ⅜ steel into an s). Crank that mofo. I did it so hard I drug my 18 ft sideways across the garage.

Or take an angle grinder and cut the prop in half at the threads. Takes about 10 minutes.

And, put grease on the threads on the new prop and u wont have this problem again.

grease on the threads will just wash off. anti-seize yur threads and take the prop off every 15 hrs or so of runnin.

A sawzall in front of the prop is an alternate method. Just sayin.

Get a 14 inch pipe wrench.. put it on the seal race u might have to grind the sides to make it fit... put a 4 ft cheater on it...

I always use a spud wrench with a offset head back your prop nut off about 1.5 turns.. put wrench between prop where it rest on nut so it doesnt mess up the threads..

Put cheater pipe on spud wrench and it takes alot of force but it will break free eventually

Use more heat.
