Im getting 3700rpms with a 346cc engine on a longtail with an 8x4,, medium load,,,heavy load im guessin its guna drop down to 3500 or so,,,,,will i be better off with an 7x4 ,,,,i think it would hold the 4000 mark for all loads,, but will the result in over all speed be a loss?

smaller prop= more revs in water versus larger prop and yes, you will lose some speed, but then again longtails aint built for speed anyway.

I think at 3700 you should be good, I would rather have more speed and keep the r's down a little. Valve springs will last longer too.
