Ok I need a 20mm shaft 27 1/2 inches long. It needs a 1/4 keyway 2 1/2 inches long and 3/4-10 threads on other end 3 inches long. Seems MB used stainless; I would be ok to use chrome molly or even tgp precision shafting, just as long as it is cost effective. I got one estimate from machine shop , it was like $500 using SS boat shafting. Thanks for any help. Sucks MB does not sell parts fo these models anymore.

They do, but it is a complete replacement, meaning shaft plus housing. Thats a $600 shaft replacement. I got lucky and found a local machine shop that does shafts for longtails and they will fix me up with drill rod instead of stainless, suits me fine I run fresh water . I know stuff breaks and it costs to run a MM. But my pockets not so deep nowadays. So machined shaft will costs me half. So I am good to go now...........
