Post subject:  When my 35GTR goes into gear...

Had something happen on Sunday and I'm not sure what the issue is... I'm not mr. mechanic so I need your input.

I have the old style motor (controls not on the tiller handle). When I move the switch from "Start" to "Forward" nothing happens until I rev it up (about 3000rpms) and then it drops into gear. I assume its something simple, but need your advice on where to start looking. I figured it might be a common issue.

It didn't do it when I started that day, but did it in the afternoon and then went away completely and now is back.

What's the problem?

Sounds like you got a bad connection on one of your wires or your clutch is going out

Check your power wire on back of your key switch

sound electrical....like revving it up puts enough charge to put it into gear...check your battery and all connections first......

My connection on back of the switch itself was just rubbing up against the contact, check there also
