Can't check lower unit lube. PD allen screws are seized. I have not stripped the out yet, but I'm afraid to put too much tourqe on them.
Any ideas?

First make sure the allen wrench you are attempting with is in good condition, if so you may want to get a "helical" set-screw extractor that fits the 1/4" hex well, it'll get it out.

DO THIS AND YOU WON'T HAVE TO DRILL IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. GET THE RIGHT SIZE ALLEN WRENCH.

2 GET A HAMMER.

3 PUT THE ALLEN WRENCH IN AND HIT THE WRENCH WITH THE HAMMER TO BREAK THE RUST FREE FROM THE THREADS. THEN USE A CRESCENT WRENCH (ADJUSTABLE WRENCH) TO TURN THE ALLEN WRENCH.. GET AS CLOSE TO THE END AS POSSIBLE SO THAT YOU DON'T FLEX THE ALLEN WRENCH...THIS SHOULD GET THEM OUT.....

Some time a meteric one will fit better than a standard. make sure that the wrench is all the way seated in the back of the plugs socket. Also before you hit the end of the allen wrench with a hammer take the slack out of it by holding a little tention with your thumb on the allen wrench in the direction your going to be hitting it (counter clock wise) this will give you a solid strike and lesson the chances of it stripping.

OH and after you get it out put a lil' permatex #2 on the threads..It will keep it from leaking and it will be easy to take them out next time..

Thanks guys. I tapped the allen screws with a hammer and they came right out with no problem. Replaced them with stainless and applied Permatex #2, so next time it should not be a problem. What a great place for information. Keep up the good work MMT. :D

stainless aint the best idea for that.. coons right about stainless and alum. if forkn mixes like oil n milk... stainless is a really gummy metal and threads get ate up easy due to a lack of carbon .... stick wit stock screws n keep em lubed
