| Post subject: | Beavertail Lower Bushing Help |
Ok so I had been experiencing the symptoms of a worn lower bushing on my beavertail longtail. I pull off all of the nuts, prop, and a very loose fitting brass bushing. The brass bushing is badly worn and clearly needs to be replaced. Also inside the fat part at the end of the shaft it looks like there is a seal that I haven't pulled out yet. What I am wondering is if the brass bushing I have pulled off is the only thing needing replaced and if it should be tight enough around the shaft to keep it centered (no play). The other option is that there is a bushing or bearing behind the seals I can see up in the shaft. Im not sure how to get the seals out at this point. Any help would be great. I emailed beavertail but haven't heard back yet so I thought someone here might know what I need to do. |

Im not sure wether you should or not but when I had to pull some bearings and seals out in a similar application I used some long self tapping screws to screw into the seals on either side of the shaft and then was able to grab the screws with 2 pairs of pliers and pulled it out. |
