The stock skeg will not have enough meat left on it for a good modification best to start fresh. |

Hate to ask but what's wrong with the stock skeg? Looks like this one goes further under the prop? |

Just ordered one tonight to replace the cracked stock one. I am hoping this one does well in sand. |

Ran the new skeg this weekend but water was up so never got to run any sandbars with it. I will say that all off the torque steer is gone. We tried all sorts of things with the stock one and nothing ever solved it. Even if there is no improvment in the sand having the torque steer gone was well worth the money. |

It should do good in the sand. I know it makes a big diffrence in the hard bottom marshes I run and in the veggies as well. U will like it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk now Free |

I might have to make me one of those skegs after all. Just found a nice piece of plate at work that still has the Alcoa wrapper on it. ![]() |

BB, two questions about your skeg design: 1. Do you think a person needs the torque tab for a center console with hydraulic steering? 2. Have you played around with leaving more of a gap on front of the prop like the new Gen III skeg? I like that concept because I think it frees up more "stuff" to get drawn to the prop...mud, water, muck, lilies. Sent using Morse Code from my not so smart phone. |

Post subject: | Re: Prodrive skeg mods |
Gotta run this skeg and see if I need to make any changes. Since I can't weld aluminum and don't want to trial and error stamping the torque wedge, I made one similar to stock and milled a recess into the skeg and just drilled and tapped the wedge on, 2 thread into the wedge from one side of the plate and 2 more thread into the skeg from the wedge side. I can take it off and mod it or make a whole nother one and replace it. ??? I want to get my buddy to tig on a strip of 1/4" channel on the bottom edge once I get satisfied with the angle. I may trim a little more off. Had to make all new parts since I didn't want to mod my stock pin. Here's a few pics of the parts and pieces. My stock pin is worn but was just under 16mm. I ended up cutting down a 16mm bolt and used the sholder as the pin, just had to spin it up and clean the edges. Drilled and tapped and used a 10mm bolt, drilled the end and put 4 set screws oposing each other for the hand brake cable. The stock pin had a 3/4 10 thread and I just had to make the aluminum piece to fit it all together. Brain was working hard on this one. I may change it a little if I have problems. Used a 90 degree "noodle" so the cable wouldn't have to go straight in from the bottom. I'll take some installed pics tomorrow. Seems pretty cool in the yard. This is just my first stab at it. |

You'll like that pin puller a lot. I know I love my setup like that. It still boggles my mind that PD doesn't make this a standard feature on all manual reverse models. The reach around is a pain and the auto reverse is way overpriced! |

Post subject: | Re: Prodrive skeg mods |
I made a pin puller a while back but with the hand brake and cable you can do it all with just one hand. Faster than the hydro also. You just still look like a wacko ratchet'n around but nobody points and laughs when you hual ass backwards. ![]() Thanks for the pics Bayouboy. You always inspire me. ![]() |

Any time my boy, Also I modified my turn stops and tweaked the top engine plate to where I can get 2 clicks per push rather than just one. You can literally get it in reverse in 2 seconds. Awesome work!! |

Ran with new skeg today. Was really impressed by the way it stayed in the grass more instead of popping out. Could run through pretty heavy vegetation at slower speeds too . Nice! The one hand cable reverse is the CAT'S ASS for sure! |
