I have hoyt stage one with center console , with a BIG load how would a 3 blade prop do for me ?
The 2 blade prop does awesome when it is new , but as much weight as I carry it dont last long at all. Trying to get something to last me longer .

 Re: gator-tail 3 blade prop ????
My experience on an 18x48 is that the 2 blade carries a load better than a 2 blade by far on a stage 2 motor. However with the 3 blade I was able to cruise pretty good at a lower rpm when lightly loaded.

 Re: gator-tail 3 blade prop ????
It's really funny how the 3 blades seem to work for ppl differently. Some have lost speeds and some have gained. Guess just depends on ur boat and motor. 3 blade helped me

Load was (36) 2x4x12 treated. 2 batteries. 18 gal gas, me, dog,and 48 qt ice chest, and about 100lbs of tools. So it was a pretty good load.

 Re: gator-tail 3 blade prop ????
That's y I'm saying everyone is seeing different things with these props. But I will tell ya if you have a 45 tooth pulley you better keep the 2 blade

 Re: gator-tail 3 blade prop ????
probably the combo of things here: outdrive length, HP, pulley, and boat.
what I've gather from everyones opinion is that this is not just a prop that you buy and go. some things need to be considered or tuned to run it.

 Re: gator-tail 3 blade prop ????
Need to demo one of these props before I'm sold I don't run alot of vegetation just alot of sand so shorter blades and maintaining a plane at lower rpms with less vibs got me interested

 Re: gator-tail 3 blade prop ????
I saw an increase in speed with a load when. I swapped to the 3 blade. Empty didn't really notice anything besides able to cruise at lower rpm and less vibration.

 Re: gator-tail 3 blade prop ????
Thanks for the info , this is my boat , with 4 ppl with a brand new 2 blade prop I run 22-23 mph but the prop don't last about 12-15 bowfishing trips . I was just trying to see if the 3 blade would last longer ?

 Re: gator-tail 3 blade prop ????
If u don't have mods and want to run with a load, you should stick with a two blade.

 Re: gator-tail 3 blade prop ????
Man I got a 45 with a stage 2 and im not quite sure yet. I have not run it much yet to know for sure. What I can tell u is that I had it loaded to the gills with lumber and tried both props with same load and the two outperformed the three by far.
I think the 48t will make a big difference.
Its a beast in the mud though.

Something else I noticed is that it cruises good at a lower rpm with 2 people.

 Re: gator-tail 3 blade prop ????
Going from a 45 to a 48 is like adding another mod to your motor.

 Re: gator-tail 3 blade prop ????
put a 3 blade on yesterday. Love it. My boat is a 2054 with 3/16 bottom CC stage 2 motor. The boat itself is a load and I ran it with just me in the boat. I noticed it may have got on plane a little faster not much. The reverse is 100% better. I gained about 1-2 mph but it was a little choppy so it was hard to tell. i normally ran about 4250 RPMs in its sweet spot and i was only running 3900 RPMs with the 3 blade. The motor sounded like it was running much easier and purred like a kitten. i do have a square chine boat so in a sharp turn i go into a instant 360 if i am not careful lol. with the 3 blade it seemed as if it held on a little longer before it wanted to spend out of control also. So the question everyone want to know is it worth it. In my case YES.

 Re: gator-tail 3 blade prop ????
I don't think lugging down a stage 2 motor to 3900 rpms with a light load is a good idea IMO.

 Re: gator-tail 3 blade prop ????
so you all are saying even though i dont have to run the 4300 rpms i need to trim up and run them or trim down and run them? i am just thinking running less rpm's getting the same or better speed would be better for my motor. According to the comments above you all are saying it is worse on the motor. I am really confused now.

 Re: gator-tail 3 blade prop ????
i also think my comment may have been worded bad. When i was running 3900 rpm's i am not at full throttle.

 Re: gator-tail 3 blade prop ????
Their just saying don't lug it down. Same with tractors, mowers, weed eaters, etc. The engine has to work harder if you don't let it run.
