 Cracked gear housing on PD
Gear housing cracked on my Lower unit. Anyone else had this problem? If so how did you repair it? I believe its made out of cast aluminum.

New gear housing is gonna fix it. How did u break it? No oil, hit something, drug it down the road.

Re: Cracked gear housing on PD
Not sure how it cracked. Talking with PD, they seem to think that there may have been water in it and with the freeze it froze and cracked. Can't just replace the gear housing. Have to change the whole lower unit. I have a 2004 27hp Prodrive. Manual trim and manual reverse.

Re: Cracked gear housing on PD
It has four bolts. I talked with the Pro Drive folks and they told me you have to change the entire lower unit. But I'm open to what you suggesting.
