What don't you like about the chopper? I have a 40 merc and I run a 18 cleaver in the summer fishing. My favorite pitch is a 16 for hunting but my boat is a very light weight 16ft flat.

When I'm alone it ain't so bad but with the dog an another person the motor won't turn full rpms at least it don't sound like it. I wanna get something not so much for just speed.

I'll look at mine. I have a 92 yamaha 40 on a 16/48 modi v. Very light. I have tons of bottom end. Would like to have more top end. Even with 12 gallons and a battery and full hunting load for two guys,it jumps up on plane in a boat length.

First time I took it out my wife was sitting in a turkey chair in the floor facing forward. I hammered it form a stop and flipped her over backwards. Got the got to hell look for that one.

Mine is a 1542 an has hardly nothing in it when I had a 25 on it I had no problem getting on plane so not sure if the motor ain't high enough on the transom or what but it'll run 40 with just me.

32 is the best I can get. Think I need one size bigger prop and some more cup.

Your probably not high enough on the transom to run a chopper and get the rpm's you should turn. I have a adjustable jack plate and with my cleaver I run it 1 inches below the bottom of the hull and I can run 37 with 3 people in the boat but takes a second to get on plane. Cleavers and choppers are surface pearcing props designed for speed and are suppose to run high on the transome. Post up some pics of your setup!

I bet that set back helps. I'll go look at my prop now and see what I'm running.

I'm running a 13. Same factory SS it came with in 92.plenty of bottom end. Originally came on a 17' Lakesport heavy ass boat. Now on a 1648 empty and light.

Yeah you could come way up with the set back you have. Jack it up until you start sucking air. Is your chopper over the hub exhaust?

Tcounty, everyone says that set back will help but gotta get the rest of it right an I needa get a 13 or 14 for duck season. Thanks for letting me know the pitch.

SRun5, I will do that I'd like to get a manual Jack plate to play with it so I ain't drilling to many holes in the transom or trim unit. An it's not over the hub this is it.

Nice prop! I really think it will run very good once setup right! I got my plate off eBay from a small company in Tennessee and have loved it! Can't beat the price either. I have a six in setback plate with no power trim on my motor so it took a while to get mine dialed in but now it will fly! I love seeing the looks on the face of bass fishermen when I can out run them. Your little boat should run really well one you bring the motor up to where that prop break the surface and get your rpms up.

SRun5, that sounds good I was thinking I wouldn't get anymore out the motor but I will definitely look for a plate cause I sure do need it. That trim unit sets mine back about 5 1/2 inches you don't think the plate will make it to far back? You mind putting a picture if your setup up. Thank you.
