I have a 1854 extreme with a stock gtr35 with a 3 blade prop. I get my best speed about 3500 rpm. If I trim up I pick up rpm but loose mph. This a 3 blade thing or will a 2 blade do the same.
I was thinking more rpm more speed. But I am not trimming up a lot to loose bite.

most reviews from guys with the 3 blade say that modded motors run them better.

you probably will get better performance from a 2 blade with your motor. did your motor come stock with it or did you request it?

search it on here, theres a lot of info

what is your speed?
the new units with 3 blades have been running lower rpms but that sounds to low

I am running 27 mph by my gps. But I am also carrying a light load. I have seen 28 mph.
3500-3600 rpm. trim up a little boat drops to 23-25 mph and 3800- 3900 rpm .
old style lower unit.
I am happy with performance. tickled shitless really for a stock rig.
Add some weight and it drops to 22 mph fairly quick. Guess that is where some mods will help, just hate to spend The $$$$ right now

what hole are you running your trim in - I noticed that when i run mine in a higher trim hole I gain RPM also but loose top speed, but the engine seems not to be loaded or working as hard at 4100 (higher trim) than at 3700 RPMs (lower trim)

I have, roughly, the same results as you.

27mph at 37-3800. New lower unit and 3 blade on a 16-54 Extreme. This being on the 2nd from top. I can trim it higher and gain RPM but speed drops.

It's seems to me you have a first series 3 blade pretty much too much wheel for a stock motor but all the new outdrive motor should have the new 3 blade.

I got my motor in mid May. I'm running a 3 blade with the new lower on a 18' 50" custom boat running 27-28 mph @ 3600-3700 seems to be the sweet spot. Motor is stock. I ran a 2 blade yesterday and my boat ran 2 mph slower best speed were around 3900-4000. Vibration was much worse with the 2 blade. Needless to say the 3 blades back on. My hole shot was much worse with a load also. For my boat the 3 blade seem to perform the best.

I also think with the new lower unit and 3 blade the "power band" for a stock engine is at or around 3700 for best overall performance - no one is going to admit that yet, oh wait I just did.

That's what I'm turning with my 2011 best speed is 29-30 and 3750 that's with a gator tail 2 blade and stage 1 motor

I bought a new 1754 gator trax with a hunt deck. Put on a new gator tail. 3 blade prop that came with motor. 3 batteries. 12 gal gas deep water. 32 mph at 4720. Motor has a few mods added. Still tuning.

Sorry I had a business call and couldn't finish my post. I also bought a 12 3/4 dia hammer to try and with same load the speed was 31 mph at 4640. But a lot of vibration. Went back to the 3 blade. Now the motor that was on the new GT frame is on stand by while i run this motor I just rebuilt. The mods are heads, cam, rocker rollers , twin carbs, billet rods, pistons, and mm exhaust. It's a large boat and I was worried about hp. The hole shot is incrediable and top end is ok for a round chime.

My stock gt turns 3500 with the 3 blade. I brought it to baggy in houma. He is going to take an inch of pitch out so my rpm's go up. Will let you know how it does when I get it back.

I bet youll get more rpm completely out of the water but less speed. Gotta find that happy spot.

Gt has the 10 pitch it's a much better 3 blade than the old ones more people are liking them and have had better luck with the 10 pitch

I drove my buddy's new gtr with the new lu and a 3 blade. The skeg looks like there's no way to bend it (no cutouts for a tab and thick as shit) and that fucker will push you out of the boat with the tiller torque. Gonna let him try a 2 blade I have to see if it works better. If now I may make him some sort of bolt on tab that will lessen the torque

I was turning 4100 with a stock motor and 10 pitch 3 blade.

4450 with Mikuni and stainless works exhaust now.

After I put my carb on I can get up to about 28mph empty. But if I run it hard loaded it gets hot and starts detonating really bad. Think I need to open my exhaust. Maybe that will help. Soon as teal season is over it's stage 3 time...

How's the tiller torque on yalls new ones? I told my buddy to call gt and ask them. I'm used to driving mine with 2 fingers. His was kicking my ass

I have a stage 2, and the older lower unit and I can hit 30-32 with 2 blade and 4 people and stay a steady 31 with the same load with the 3 blade(10 pitch). But my boat turns and is easier to control with the 2 blade
