In my case it dropped the rpms some but it is a little faster than my stock prop.It has held up good in the mud as far as wear goes, but I'll see how it does during hunting season.

with more power you can run a more aggresive prop to lower rpms and run faster, and have more hole shot.

The big blade is the best all around prop for holeshot and reverse propulsion.

Its a hopkins 12x12,I got it to try it out.It is neck and neck with the GT big blade as far as performance but like I said it was a little faster and it lowered the rpms. You may as well run the stock prop, the gains were not that impressive but it has a lot of meat on it and so far it has held up well.I compared the props at the same time did the swap in the field but I do not have the exact rpms or speeds. The rpm drop was about 300 or so and maybe .5-1mph and that is it.

My better speeds with the GT prop will come with a prop with a some wear on it.This is on a GTR with Hoyts work done to it.The best speeds have been 34.8 on a 17x54GTB in about a foot of water and a slight breeze at the stern. It'll run 32-34 average skinny and deep

Hopkins props last longer in the sand. They are a harder material but every prop he sells you will be different.I have ran 3 of his props on 2 different motors and never had a problem.

What is this Stage 1 prop I have been hearing about? I believe Stump was working on it. Must be Super Top Secret since I know nothing about it.

It was designed to run on a PD so my guess is yes.

What will the requirements be for this prop? Will you need a carb, exhaust & headwork, 2 out of three, or what? I'm just curious what else I will have to spend money on once I get tired of hearing how good these props are.

Well Terry that is the same thing that Kyle said but this prop is running better than the last GT big blade that I got.All around it beat what I had.It was not like strapping on a rocket booster it was just alittle faster.

I tried the 12 x 12 hopkins and lost 2 mph and I had a hard time stepping a load. I wanted to try taking some pitch out but never did. I think the stock GT big blade is the best one. The thing about props is they are all slightly different. It's very hard to get 2 props that perform exactly the same.

Post Re: why aftermarket?
I only compared it against one new gt prop that I had all the other ones that I had were as sharp as knives.I've never tried the 11x11 with my boat and motor, the 9x11 does not do anything for it with the mods.I had a worn big blade that would out run anything that I put on it but it just got to the point of no return.

While frogging I had 2 other guys my size two batteries, ice chest with drinks, and 12 gallons of gas and the prop did just fine stepping that load in any conditions. With any load that I ran in it this summer the numbers were neck and neck but empty is where you would see the slightly better numbers.I swapped the prop out on several occasions in the same ponds/lagoons on the same day to compare them and it was always slightly better.

The biggest differance was the amount of rpms that it dropped. The best speeds were at about 3900,with the GT the best speeds were at 4250-4350 depending on prop wear. One day I had the boat at the GT shop and Kyle looked at it and said man if I knew that you wanted one of those I could have given you one.Thats when he told me about their results running them.

Update checked out the hopkins on another motor, the hole shot was not worth a shit and it was slower by about maybe 1mph.This was only with 2 guys and a dog.

Similar experience with the Hopkins 12X12 Cleaver.- I lost 2 MPH, the hole shot was weak to say the least, and my RPM's went up about 250 RPM's. I sent the prop back to Glen and and he took it to a 13 or 13.5 pitch (he can't remember) I gained my speed back but my RPM's stayed at about 250-350 RPM's, over the stock. I did gain approximately 1 MPH over the stock. I am putting back on the stock in the AM. Engine was running 4450 with the Hopkins and 4150 with the stock. Much more comfortable running at 4150. Glen is going to add another degree of pitch to try to bring the RPM's down, but so far the Hopkins has not been better overall than the stock PD, which is ironically based on the Cleaver mold....
