Post subject:  Need Help: prop seal

i know it's late, I just got a new bearing, race, wear sleeve in the mail from Calen but can't figure out how to remove the old bearing and seals. I've never replaced it and don't want to screw anything up. Can anyone give a relatively easy lesson on how to remove the old bearing/seal? I'm supposed to scout tomorrow am, but don't wanna go with this bad seal, a few drops of water leaked out when i pumped new grease in the shaft. I owe a case of beer to whomever can help me out. Thanks guys.

GTR - just use a whole tube of grease before each hunt

GDSD - just give it a pump or two before each hunt

Fix it later during the off season - it isn't that big of a deal

If u are talking abut the rear seal and bearing....get a pipe wrench and remove the bearing housing near the prop. I think it's reverse threads. Replace the 2 seals bearing and race. Pay attention to the way the seals are located and Put it back together with some grease.

I was able to get everything off, but the seals were badly damaged. it was hard to tell which way the seals went. It looks like they face each other, ie spring and inside gasket facing inward. Can anyone let me know if that is correct, also is there a good tool to push them in without damaging the new seals?? Thanks

Get a socket that is about the same size and push them in. They both facing towards the belt on top of each other.
