16 hp Go-devil long tail shaft replacement (58 in") TIPS?
Just bought a 2005 16 hp go devil long tail (58" shaft), literally just bought it and the 1st time I took it out I took off down a creek bed, the creek bed was super rocky and In my ignorance I paid no attention to it. Heard a snap and turned around and the prop was gone. 1st day I took my new motor out, I hit a rock and snapped the prop off. I was able to jump in the creek and fish the prop out so I have that, it looks like the shaft snapped in half right where it comes out of the lower unit. There seems to be no damage to the prop.
Im hoping all i will need to fix it is to order a new internal shaft. Attached are pictures of the damage.
I live in DFW and its impossible to find anyone to work on mud motors anywhere around. So I will be fixing it myself.
Any recommendations/pointers on how to go about replacing the internal shaft? (Assuming that is what needs to be replaced) I looked on youtube for 'how to' videos and couldnt find shit.
Also, if it looks as if something else needs to be replaced besides just the shaft please let me know.
