One quick question......I have a 2008 PD and just reinstalled my prop, not a new prop. I had to turn the prop with two hands from the get go. I remember when the motor was newer that installing a prop it would free spin until it got closer to tightening up. Is this normal that it did not free spin for a while before tightening up? I would imagine it is pretty hard to cross thread the prop. I ran it after reinstalling the prop and it ran great. I would think I would notice if something was wrong when running it. Now that I think about it when I removed this same prop, I had to use two hands almost all the way off as well. Just wondering....thanks., |

Sounds like a burr or something in the threads on either the prop or shaft. Did you put any anti-seize on it? Not saying that'll fix it but mine spins extra easy with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Did you slide the bushing onto the shaft first, then thread the prop on? If not pull it off and put the bushing on the shaft first. |

Yep, did all of the above. Plenty of never seize and put the prop bushing on first. Should I take it off and try reinstalling although I would need to close that bushing back up to try and reuse it? Or just run with it? I called PD and they said sometimes this happens especially with the age of the motor. IDK |

I also have a couple of spare props that I could try and determine if there is a burr on the prop threads. Just not sure since the prop is already on if it is worth worrying about. |

As long as it's sitting all the way on the bushing, you'll be fine until next time but you do have something either in the prop or on the shaft. It should free spin all the way to the bushing (which you put the bushing on first and then spin prop onto bushing) this compresses the bushing on the shaft and relieves the threads from catching all of the abuse. If you have a doubt, you should have roughly 3/16" of bushing showing, if you're concerned take a picture and post it. |
