 need help with prop size
Hi folks, I've done some searching and can't really find anyone with the same setup I have, boat wise that is. I have a 1436 with full width x 12" pod so basically a 1536, 6ft go devil longtail and as of today a 420cc stock predator, old version go devil 8x5 prop they discontinued that's worn down around 5/8", with me 275lbs and a buddy 250 lbs we maxed out at 11 mph at 3680-3750 rpm, with just me I barely bumped 13mph at 3800 rpm, my prop depth is where it should be at all times, question is... will a new 8x4 prop really make that much difference?? What stumps me is I see guys posting all the time with the same stock engine 1436 boat reaching 15-21 mph.. what am I missing here? Perhaps someone could please explain to me the prop sizing deal. Is a 8x4 faster or push more or would a 9x3 suite me better. I really don't have the luxury of buying 2-3 props so that's why I'm here lol. Anywats, thanks guys, I'd appreciate the input.

Re: need help with prop size
It seems per calculations I'm having 30% prop slip, if that's correct how do I fix that? Anyone?

Re: need help with prop size
If you've got 5/8" of wear on your prop, you probably need to add some cup to it and it will get a better bite. There are several prop shops that are well versed in mud props and can breathe some life into what you have, or you can look into buying an exact replacement. Do a search on prop repairs and you can compile a list of favorites.

Re: need help with prop size
I have a modded gx390 with a 8x5. It runs about 3800 rpm with the Cav plate just under the surface.
