Anyone know a good 8x4 prop for a 16 hp go devil long tail? Im running a 9x3 right now and am only turning about 3000 rpms on the top end so im trying to get more top end speed. I get I may lose some bit in the mud. Just wondering if anyone knew of anyone that made good props for what Im looking for. |

Is the 16hp a single cyl or twin? You should be getting more rpms than that depending on your boat size and load Sent from my SCH-R890 using Tapatalk |

16s are V and should be turning more than that. 9x3 is the correct prop. |

what brand of motor is it? I have a 16hp duromax which i believe turns 3800. I run a 8x4 from backwater. I've had other guys on here tell me try a 9x3 from go devil also. |

Briggs twin Cylinder. Ive done everything I can to get the RPMs up, replaced the carb, fuel pump, brand new 9x3 prop, readjusted the governors tab, bent the governors tab (out toward carb). The only thing I was able to do was get the RPMs up without a load but as soon as I drop it in the water, no matter how many rpms it was turning without the load, it stays steady at 3080 or so at max power. Its an relatively old motor I guess - 2005, so ive just figured thats all she'd pull. The only thing I havent tried was throwing the 8x4 prop on it. Also I have it on a small riveted 14 ft flat bottom which is only rated for a 20 hp outboard. It turns that with just me in the boat. The only over weight ratio would be the motor to the boat. The transom is rated for a max weight of 115 lbs I figure (Thats how much 20 hp outboard weighs), this long tail weighs 177 lbs so the motor on the transom of the boat is significantly over weight but I still feel like that wouldn't have anything to do with it Im just over thinking everything because Ive tried everything under the sun. Im currently saving up for a brand new 23 copperhead which will give 7 more hp and make me about 40 lbs lighter so Il be in bizz then |
