Long tail newbie. I've got a used beavertail with a 24 hp Honda on a 1448 riveted boat (I know the boat isn't ideal but it's what I've got to work with for now). The prop that's on it is sharp and the cup is mostly gone. It runs about 18 mph with on person, 17 with 2, and 11 with 3. I'm looking for a prop that will make the best of the situation with 3 in the boat. I'm not concerned about trying to get light load high speeds. Looking for the best prop to get my 2 sons, the dog, gear,, and myself through the mud to our spot.Any advice is would be great.

If the motor is stock is start with a 9x5, maybe even a 9x4 depending on how heavy the hull and gear are. You want your loaded RPM to be in the 3900-4000 neighborhood, and unloaded let it run on up to 43-4400, this will be about best case scenario on that Honda. If load carrying is your main concern and you run heavy more often than not, go straight for the 9x4

We ran a 9x6, 9x7, and 9x5 on that engine. The 6 and 5 were better than the 7. Setx is right, on that boat, you may wind up liking the 5 or even 4.
