 GDSD prop removal
Any suggestions? I have a new three blade I have very few hours on and I tried today to get it to spin off with no luck. I took my acetylene tank in for a refill about three weeks ago and its still not back. Thats another story. I would heat the shaft as the instructions say however with no acetylene I need plan B. I ordered new seals today. I would like to have the motor ready to put in the seals in once they arrive. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

 Re: GDSD prop removal
You can take a 2x4 drill a whole for shaft, wedge inbetween blades. You'll also need to keep shaft from moving, best way to get something into u joint that doesn't allow it to turn. The longer the 2x4 the more leverage, some have made metal prop tool similar. Hope that helps

Spray it with PB blaster liberally. Let it marinate in the stuff and then give it hell.

 Re: GDSD prop removal
I did a Google search and the search brought me right back here in regards to getting the prop off. I found one thread were a couple different guys used Freeze Off by CRC. I bought a can, picked up my dad and drove home. Dad and I tried to break the prop loose with no luck. I hosed the prop hub and prop shaft with the freeze off and it broke loose with a light effort. Amazing. Used the freeze off on the jam nut too. All is now disassembled and awaiting for the seals to arrive.

 Re: GDSD prop removal
Had the lower unit pulled apart waiting for the parts. Parts came today. Put the seals in and went though the gear box. inside the box was looking brand new. Followed the GD suggested services and all is well. My rig is ready. Slathered the prop shaft with never sieze prior to replacing the prop. Hope that last a long time.
