I run an area that is mostly sandy bottom and with the lack of rain the river is low. I'm on a new prop now and I would like to make it last as long as possible. For a 36 PD I'm thinking something like this to keep the skeg from digging into the sand and eating the prop up.http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templ ... hasJS=true If you guys have something that works for you or any ideas let me know. I'm trying not to spend $250 on a rock guard from PD.

Thats the price on the website and I'm not even sure it would work for what I need it to do.

how many hours did you get out of your first prop? I run areas with heavy sand as well and replaced mine after 90.

If your set on that design save your money and just make one out of 3x3x1/4 angle iron.

not the best illustration, but!

Pm me your number. I have a brand new rock/sand gaurd that was made for a gator tail but should work on yours. I can't believe that they are charging that amount of money for a rock gaurd.

what your looking at is a rock guard for your skeg i dont think it will help you out much in sand unless all you want to do is make sure your skeg is big enough so that your prop never touches the sand. if you dont have many rocks to worry about i would send your prop to get heat treated so that its actually harder and it will last longer running through the sand
