Post GTR transmission change SCREWUP..need advise!
OK, i was changing the transmission oil and accidentally dropped one of the filler screws in the lower unit housing and I cannot find it to get it out. Is this a big problem or should I just go get a new screw and forget about it?? Not sure what to do....I am suppose to leave in the morning for a 3 day duck hunt.

I think that screw has a recess for a o-ring, not sure if you will be able to find one. Try tilting the motor all the way up so that the screw will fall to the front of the belt housing. Find something long a flexible like an old metal coat hanger straightend out with some duck tape wrapped on the end,and fish it out. Shouldn't be to difficult.

Go to an auto parts store and grab a magnet on one of those extension poles they're small and around $2-3

You might have to tape two together two reach all the way down.

Tried magnet ..won't work. Also tried the duct tape and couldn't get it to work. I cant even see it with a flashlight laying on bottom. there is just a little bit of water collected on the bottom which is why i probably can't see it and why the duct tape wont stick. Any other suggestions????

The magnet will not work on a stainless screw, you can try a long wooden dowel with sum gum or duct tape on the bottom. The lower unit is not that hard to pull and reinstall if you need to get to it.Send a pm if you have any questions.

Drain the water out first.
