Let me first start by saying this boat is belonging to a friend of a friend and I haven't seen or ran it. Can only go by what I've been told.
He says he's getting 27 mph out of this prop that looks trashed to me....or some kind of weird looking custom job if it ain't.
Motor has a Mikuni and a MM exhaust.
Could possibly have head work. He doesn't know. He bought it a few days ago from a dealer in gulf shores Alabama.
The videos I have seen of it running it doesn't sound like it's got a cam in it.
I do not know what rpm he is turning at 27mph.
Does this prop look trashed to y'all?
What's a a good replacement?
Haven't I been reading gator tail isn't making their two blade any more and people are unhappy with their new three blade?
Does a MB big blade fit the GTR directly? Bc I will be going past prodigy tomorrow and could possibly pick one up from them.

That prop is pretty burnt. The big blade will work no problem. There will be a small amount of play on the shaft but it goes away when tightened

That's a worn out Powertech. It's gone. Get a big blade, sharpen the edges, polish it, and run the crap out of it.

I would like to send a hammer to a prop shop and see what could be improved. It's an excellent prop for hunting season, especially when dealing with sand

GT has a version that less pitch.

If you want the big blade to run GOOD like the old Powertechs, you need to make it look like a powertech.

It's a stage 3

Add 1" of pitch and give it a try every setup is different. Too much prop is worse than not enough prop.

Rather than start my own thread I figured I'd piggy back on this one since people are responding.

I have a 37 GTR on order and it will have Calen's stage 3 kit when I pick it up. I am running it on a 17x44 Gator Trax boat that formerly had a 35 MB on it.
Where should I start prop wise? Stock GTR 3 blade? Big Blade with more pitch?
I'm not going to spend $1000 playing with mud motor props to get 2 more mph. I need a prop that I can throw on and beat up...but still get solid performance out of.

What JD said.... just ask Calen.

A worked 3 blade performs great on my Delta modded carb motor.

Worked BB was the fastest I've ran @34.7 hammer is a good load prop and an absolute beast, it wears well. I run 31 empty and 28 with 4 people plus bowfishing gear. I have ran an 11p and 10.5p 3 blade, neither have impressed me. They run a bit faster but not enough to justify it over a 2blade

I need to give my worked 2 blade another chance. I just like not having any Tiller torque and hitting 32.9 with me, a cooler, 100 pound kid, and a hundred pounds lab.

I just recently built a stage 2, and playing this prop game myself. Hit 32.2 w a beat up worn down stock 3 blade. Solid 30 with a hammer. Wanting to get more speed since I figured I'd be around 34-35 w stage 2 mods. Looks like one of the better options is send a big blade to LA Prop or baggy. Anybody had a hammer worked, polished and all, or the better option to stick with a big blade?

If you're hoping for 34-35 you best stick with a big blade or a 3 blade, and IMO Baggy is the way to go.

Jd what do you recommend do to a big blade for that kind of speed? Will it still have decent hole shot, also? That hammer is insane out of the hole! Just would like a little more top end.

Im also running 32-33 with stage 2 mods. I think some of it is my hull as well. I just swapped 46 lower pulley on my MB and now with 2 guys w/ worked 3, my holeshot sucks (its decent solo). Havent tested BB with 2 in it yet. It dropped my RPMs down some which is what I wanted, but may need to run the 48 pulley and roll with my 4600. I need some of that holeshot back with the 3.

Post subject:  Re: GTR prop confusion

I feel ya on that one. I would rather stay with my hammer and have a lot of power out the hole, than to have only top end. I feel like the best of both worlds could be bad from a worked 3 blade but man do they suck in vegetation.
