first post...
new to mud motors first of all. i just don't really know if i need new prop, heres my set up and problem...

1648 flat bottom alumacraft 86' i believe. w/ 14HP Mud Buddy vanguard surface drive.

i have to burry the prop trimmed all the way down to get any momentum thats worth anything, i can only get to 10mph. it will not push boat hardly at all with prop halfway in water. in the process of getting a tach put on so i can see what my rims are putting out.
the prop edges do feel sharp.
i bought this boat used, used in brackish waters with that nasty mud. i doubt ever had new prop replaced.

am i not using the motor right or wrong prop/bad prop or not enough power for the 16 footer.
i want some input before i drop almost 300 for a new prop and that not be the problem.

What are the measurements on the prop? End to end of course.

Dosent look bad to me but take a measurement. You could have a prop that's to big for a 14hp motor as well

Contacted mudbuddy and was forwarded to parts and service, which work for back water and are telling me a 10x8 is the right prop. Seems big for small motor when the 35hp are using 11's or 12's. I'm at a lost cause on what to do. I have to get more speed out of this thing. Or at least the motor to run how it was designed.
Doesn't make since for me to have to trim the motor all the way down to barely get 10mph

Maybe send it to a prop guy, or find someone who will let you try a smaller prop

I might just buy the new prop and see what happens. Need to add tach as well. So many things to buy for the season. I'm not ready haha
