Post HD Sport questions. Trim & Shimming Transom.
Had a couple more questions about my setup and figured this would be the place to go for answers. First off its a 35 Hyperdrive on a Tracker Grizzly 1754. Right now with a fairly worn 2 blade, By myself with 6 gallons of fuel 2 batteries and a dog I can hold 26mph. Not complaining about that at all but wanted to let you know what I was working with. Here's the questions.

I know the trim units were/have been a big issue with the mud buddys. On the face of the motor it says 35 Hyperdrive then right under that says Mercury Power Trim. I know the units with issues were usually the Baer (sp?) and the Thompsons and most that wanted the best fix went with the Mercury set ups. My unit seems to work fine on the trailer and at and idle and low rpms while under load, seems a bit slow but I'm basing that off of outboards I've been around, but at WOT its super slow and sometimes doesn't seem to move at all. Wasn't sure if thats normal or what? I'm new to SD setups so thats why I'm asking if thats something that is usual or if it should move any time you click the button up or down. I know it says its the Mercury PT but is there a way to verify that is actually whats on it? Also is there a place to check the fluid in the unit and make sure its up to par and I'm not overlooking a simple solution?

And for the second part, I'm thinking about shimming the transom some to try to get the motor set at the perfect angle on the transom. It seems to me that by my self when its trimmed out to the top end and running best its still angled down some and not getting the big rooster tail like so many SDs throw. That being said, I had two buddy in it this weekend and the bigger of the two pushing 275 on the seat at the bow and the boat seemed to ride more level without trying to porpoise any and threw a big rooster tail. Still carried right at 20mph with 3 of us and limb lining gear, coolers and bait. Thats got me thinking shimming the back of the transom on the backside to stand the motor up more vertical on the transom would give a similar effect as having the extra weight in the front of the boat... I may be completely wrong but figured if it doesn't work I'll take it out and leave it where its at now. Just seeing what others have done as far as shimming is concerned.

Thanks.

you're not throwing a rooster tail, cause you are trimming down too much, cause you have a worn prop.
A new prop, and make sure to have half of it in the water and half out while WOT.

Also, i'm sure if your trim has Mercury PT on it, that's probably what you've got.
It could be low on fluids. And check your the connections on everything from the football to the trim motor.
