Found a pretty good dent in my 35GTR skeg! So I decided to grind it out and in the process got carried away and put a pretty edge on it. Well to get to the point(edge ) my motor does not "torque" near as bad as it used too! There is a very noticeable difference in the amount of turning right to go straight at WTFO....HMMMMM!!!!

Kinda reminded me of sharping the leading edges on prop on a 18hp Evinrude years ago, it cut thru lillys and moss a lot better with out fouling the prop, even sliced thru a few old trot lines and fishing string.

Anybody else done or treied this or something similar?

I think I would be worried about it sticking in a log or stump. Probably slim odds, but it seems possible.

Hey I never thought of that! Guess I better go out and find a log or stump and hit it a few times to see if I can stick it!

Rumor of a 3ish mph loss with this beef up. :D

I straight my trim tab and with a sort of edge on the skeg it still doesn't torgue as bad as it did before!! Didn't check speed due to the fact I got a big ass dent, cup, or bend about 2 -3 ft forward if transom and I lost 5mph on my top end but the motor still hits the rev limiter with 3 people. But that be ok Uncle J is fixing it right, they started on my new one this week! Kinda feel like a kid waiting on Christmas!!!! :o :o 8-)

Update on the skeg -- doesn't stick in a stump or log at fast idle or at 26mph, it just "slides" right over!
