Getting towed back in now. I hit a log this morning and broke my shaft at the threads and lost the prop. I need another drive shaft and prop ASAP, but of course Go-devil and every dealership that I've called is closed today. Does anyone know of a dealership that carries replacement parts that's open today (12/26)?

Couldn't of broken down on a better spot though, got a 2 man limit quick and marked the spot. Lol

Its unfortunate but Go devil dosent allow most parts to be in stock anywhere.. you have to call them, give vin#, then they ship you the parts.. plan on being down a few days

If you have it apart, might try a machine shop in your area to build you a new one. Have had a local machine shop build all the replacement shafts that I've replaced in the last few years. Shafts are made of a better grade of steel, and hold up really well, and are a little cheaper. I'd replace all the seals and bearings while you have it apart.

Yeah, I replaced everything in the lower unit 6 months ago except for the drive shaft and prop as the prop was still in pretty good shape. Guess I'll have to wait 'til tomorrow.

Damn that looks just like my old gdsd when it broke the shaft and lost the prop... I found me prop though.
On making the shaft,,,, idk abt the gdsd but I was told that the longtail shaft has a twist to it like a torsion bar to absorb impact when the prop hit stuff. Maybe on the gdsd the belt takes the impact? I think the shaft for my gdsd was like $160 though but it might've been less.

It's not made into the shaft. So to speak. You're partially correct though. That shaft is made of EDT150, which has a good spring quality for a steel alloy. So yes, it absorbs torsional impacts pretty well. This is also the reason hitting a stuck prop with a hammer won't break it loose. ;)

Yeah, I have a new BB that I've only used twice. I'm probably going to sell it. I just like the 3 blade better for the long runs. Got my boat up and running again, $380 dollars later.

Broke my shaft in the same spot, how did you pull the shaft out? Mines stuck in there pretty good
