Right now I have a stock GEN3 with a 3 blade prop, will I gain anything by switching to a 2 blade with the motor being stick?Thinking about putting some delta heads,carb and voodoo on in the summer will I be better off with the 3 or 2? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

More RPMS with 2 blade most likely, may be more speed may not. More Vibration is almost guaranteed. I go back and forth from a 2 blade hammer to a 12.3x9(at least that is what is stamped on the prop) Hammer get a little better speed(1-2 mph and about 100 + rpms), 3 blade seems a little less vibration and the hole shot is a little slower. I broke a BB after less than 2 months of use. Completely broke off 1 blade at the hub, hit a couple of stumps at maybe 1/2 or less throttle, then got in open water(didn't hit anything) and the blade came off at WFO. Thought I had really f--ked something up! Was glad it was just a Prop. |

Thanks for the reply cypress, I remember reading that the 3 blade that came on the gen3 was better carrying a load.... but seems like it takes a lot of HP to spin that big thing in mud/veggies. I personally haven't had a problem with the prop but when I buy a new one figured I'd find out if I could gain any advantage by going with a 2 blade.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yeah a hammer or a BB will perform better in the mud and veggies and is more "weedless" than a 3 blade. |

Just to be clear.. To the OP your 3rd gen is a Prodrive right? What are you looking to gain. Speed--probably got the wrong unit. The Gen 3 did not pan out like PD thought, they tend to be slower than the other big 2. Hence the gen 4. They are not a total lost cause, with some prop work and and upgrades you can have a serviceable unit. What do you have the motor on? What are its limitations? What are your goals? Most important--how much money ya got? Speed is expensive, how fast you want to go?? |

Your going to notice a difference in carrying a load when you get the new boat. For what its worth Im running a gen 3 PD eith heads, carb and exhaust on an 1854 Uncle J and I run about 27 empty, maybe mid to low 20s with 4 guys and a full load. That's with the 2 blade |
