Post subject:  What's the verdict on the GTR 3 blade vs 2 blade prop?
Now that the 3-blade has been out for a few years, what is the verdict vs the 2-blade?? It's been discussed some, but the older threads were all over the map (one went south when AKA started chiming in). Also are there different pitches available--it looked like GTR's website only lists a 10.5?

Which is better for:

Top Speed?

Hole shot?

Weeds?

Reverse?

Mud?

Vibration/Tiller torque?

I'm interested for a 2013 pure stock GTR35 that is currently running a two blade. Especially interested in comments from guys that have tried both.

I ran one for about a year and switched to a 2 blade and liked the 2 more. Went back to a 3 blade for whatever stupid reason and ran it for about 20 minutes and couldn't get that sucker off fast enough. I choose 2 blade any day over the 3....reverse is better, hole shot is better, and load carry is better...also dosent have as much tiller torque. The 3 blade is faster on the top when empty but thats the only place it beats the 2 blade. Vibration is alittle more but thats easy fix with balancing. In grass the three blade only gets about 5 feet in reverse before the prop needs to be cleared, i can back up as far as i want to with a 2 blade.

I'm running a 3 blade on a 37GTR efi with a 17x54 extreme. The 3 blade came on it and I can't complain about the speed, but I can complain about the poor reverse performance. I just got a 2 blade in and plan to take it out this weekend. Will report back with some first impressions.

Mines a 2010 motor and frame. I tried a 3 blade and the tiller torque was bad. I don't have any to speak of with a 2 blade. I'll be sticking with a 2 blade with this particular motor

im running the stock 3 blade on a 2016 37EFI GT and reverse sucks and whole shot sucks . been told to go to Big Blade so waiting on it to get here !

2011 gtr

2 blade power tech (worked)
Pros:
Fast at all ranges
Awesome holeshot
Great in reverse
Great in grass
Cons:
LOTS of tiller torque

3 blade (worked)
Pros:
Hardly any tiller torque
Very little vibration
Makes driving more enjoyable on a long run
Cons:
Holeshot not as good as 2 blade
Reverse not as good as 2 blade
Speeds not as good as 2 blade
Reverse is poor

merc 3 blade on my gtr

the good
its very smooth and zero tiller torque
reverse is stronger than a 2 blade as long as your not in thick grass or mud
2 mph faster than my worked big blade loaded or unloaded

the cons
its a little slower to get on step with a load
it get clogged up with grass

only time a two blade is on my boat is when i know things are about to get bad.

Well I took the new 2 blade out this weekend for bowfishing. WOW- I really like it. I noticed considerably less tiller torque when my load was off balance. I find the three blade is much more picky about having a perfectly balanced load.

As for performance with the 2 blade: I may have lost 1mph on the GPS vs the 3 blade. Getting on plane in shallow water was easier and WHAT A DIFFERENCE the 2 blade makes in reverse. I can maneuver all over in reverse now.

I'll continue to run the 2 blade for all things shallow. If I'm out going fishing and going to be in fairly deep water I may break the 3 blade back out.

it all depends on what 3 blade you run. the merc 3 blade will out perform the 2 blade in reverse and speed but the two blade will have better hole shot and much better in grass

the power tech 3 blades will be smother and run better with light loads but will struggle in reverse and mud/veggies.

this goes for most boats. some boats hate 3 blades
