Post Clutch not engaging 36 Prodrive
Last time I had the boat out (July 4th) there were a couple of times that the clutch would not engage when I pulled the pto switch. Yesterday I went out to start the motor up and let it run for a bit and I could not get the clutch to engage. Also noticed that the reverse switch would not work and the bump button did not work. I have two motors on the boat and only one motor is affected, all of the functions work fine on the other motor. Turned the motor off and on a couple of times and then all of the switches started working correctly. I did this several times and the switches would go in and out intermittently. Any ideas on what could be going on?

Possible bad switch but likely maybe just a loose connection. Check the connections on the back of all switches.

After playing with it a little more this morning I noticed that when the pto is pulled up and the clutch does not engage, I can slightly wiggle the key in the ignition and the clutch will engage. Should I change the ignition or is there some type of adjustment that I can make?

I would replace the switch and inspect the rest of the connections while you're in there

Check all the wires going into the backside of the switch panel and make sure they are secure.

There should be a purple wire coming from the key switch that connects to the PTO as well as the bump switch, then from the bump switch to the clutch. Check all the connections as well as the ground from the clutch to the ground lug. If it still doesn't engage all the time, run a hot straight from battery to clutch and bypass all the switches, if clutch engages then its the Key switch. Ask me how I know? I saw 1 wire somewhat dryrotted so I performing surgery on mine and rewiring the whole thing, new switches, control box, everything.

I checked all of the connections and they were tight. The ignition had a little play in it so I changed it to a new one. Seems to be working fine now. Thanks for the help.
