Post subject:  Swapping lower gear in Gatortail

I have a 2007 model Gatortail 35 with the 45t lower gear. In 2011-12 I purchased a new short transom belt housing for it to use on my boat. When I called GT they said I couldn't run the 48t gear with my housing (tried to explain when I bought the newer housing but didn't seem to care). Comparing the housing to a new XD I cant see any difference and looks like plenty of room for larger gear on the inside. Can someone please help with dimensions or specs to figure out what is needed to run the 48t bottom gear. Thanks

There's a difference in the mounting holes. You can run a 48t or 45t in the short and tall housings for the 48t, but you can't run a 48t in the short and tall housings for the 45t. I don't have my 45t housing to compare the difference between them, but if no one else does it before I get out there, I'll measure mine.
