 how much grease should come out?

Post how much grease should come out?
I greased the hell out of the carrier above the lower unit, PD 07, and its spewing grease out of it like crazy.
Is there a seal above the lower unit in the carrier housing? I cleaned it off before hunting the last day, and when I pulled it out of the water that joint was coated with grease from that joint.
