Anyone know what the actual name is for the rectangular tube that connect the lower unit to the power head on a 35GTR? I'm talking about the part that the belt travels in and the lower until mounts to... I have no idea what its called.

I think its a tall transom, and I measured it at 28.75" from top to bottom. Its a 2007 model. No signs of damage but the welds are cracking and someone pointed that out this past weekend.

The welds are cracking and I want to try explain it to someone so I can decide if I want to get it welded back up or buy a new one... or a used one.

I didn't even break it myself. A guy wanted to buy the motor, so he wanted to test drive it. OK, no problem. I already had his deposit.

Hits a stump so hard that I nearly flew out of the boat. I've never hit anything that hard since i owned it. Then we get back and he points out that the welds are cracking at the bottom. Freshly cracked.

Then he says he doesn't want it unless I take a $1000 off of it. Told him to screw off and kept the deposit to fix it.

I get the new belt housing today. Gonna keep it as a backup motor in case something happens to the new one during the season.
