Exactly what does working a Prop mean and how long does it take?

Stock props (what is available to buy from the manufacturers) are a good starting point, and can be right for some motor/boat combos. Because we all get more or less stuff in our boats, carry different loads, different size boats, etc, getting adjustments to cup, pitch, and rake (which all affect how the prop interacts with the water) becomes a good idea to maximize potential of our whole setup to meet expectations. Speed isnt the only measurement of that, but is the one you hear the most about. There are tradeoffs made to get more speed, or better holeshot, etc.

Prop work is the term used to encompass those adjustments.

It takes a few hours, but depends on when the prop guy gets to it based on how long the line in front of you is.
