Pro Drive Prop
I need a new prop for my 2008 prodrive and have always used PD props. I have performance heads that was done around 2011, gutted stock exhaust and stock carb.
I know there are similar posts to this but thought I would ask anyway. The stock PD prop has a 12 pitch. Is there any advantage/disadvantage going with a BPS Big Blade? Looks like I would be loosing pitch as that the BPS is 10 pitch. Do I have that right? Hilman?
Thanks for the input. Man these props are getting more $. PD for $295 plus shipping. Jeez

Re: Pro Drive Prop
Yes - as far as I know the BB is a 10" per revolution or 10 pitch...
your old 12" per revolution or 12 pitch has lost metal and is likely a 10 pitch now....
A good prop shop could hammer in a bit more cup for a few bucks and get you another 25 hours or so out of it...
Most would say go with what you know - go back with the new 12 pitch with the same diameter and design as your old one was the day it was new !
In 2008 - I believe PD ran a very similar Hopkins designed 12" diameter 12 pitch threaded 2 blade as the GDSD ran at the time.... Because the PD was 1.5 to one it spun that prop a bit easier than the GDSD which was a 1.4 to one gear ratio....
That prop and the GD 11" diameter three blade 12 pitch were always my two favorites to run on stock 35 briggs SDs....
Biggest advantage on the BB was if your super heavily loaded the lower pitch might get you up on plane faster - but she would sure run slower....

Re: Pro Drive Prop
Stick with the PD prop. I've tried different props in the past on mild modded motors, and stock prop was always best. Maybe with a little balancing neded.
