So i have a stage 2ish PD and the loping of the cam is causing some major noticeable slack between the plate that the engine is mounted on and the top half of the lower unit. I remember calling PD on this one and they said it was fine but since then I have added hydraulic steering and it is VERY noticeable now. This is a little aggravating when idling because the entire boat shakes with the lope. There is about 1" of slack and I feel that this will only get progressively worse with time. Also, when running WOT, i can look back and see the motor is a couple degrees cocked to the side while the lower unit is pointing straight due to the torque. Any thoughts on this? maybe a teflon collar in the upper half? THanks |

What year, how many hours? However, what you've described is normal, quit looking back, run the shit out of it. Grease the tower and it'll take some slack out. Depending on the year, the reverse gear could be adjusted a tooth to line the motor to the LU but all of the new ones I've seen with the 180* plate have the engine slightly off from the LU. Look at it from behind on the trailer and see if it's lined up. As long as there's not any play between the skeg and motor, you're fine. It's going to shake back and forth in the tower. |

2011, 400hrs....God i hate how that slack and the hydraulic steering makes the boat jarr pretty good. The steering is so rigid and the idle makes everything shake. |
