Having an issues when changing out my prop from the stock 2 blade to the new 3 blade on my 40HP- was told that it was just a simple prop swap and that you use the same factory washer and nut. Problem is the nut wont tighten all the way down without bottoming out. Don’t want to put too much pressure on it and choon something up. Do i need to just keep tightening down on it or do I need to get a new nut?

Make sure the prop is seated correctly inside of the hub, if that isn’t the issue, get a new nut. I find the brass ones off the Mercury’s last wayyy long than the junk they sell with gatortail, and they don’t rust. I’ve changed props 100 times on my rig and haven’t had to change the bass nut yet

It might be too obvious...but is the prop on there the right way? It will seat differently if not put on facing the right direction.

Prop is seated properly- it is just slightly thinner than other prop.

The nut from mercury is the same threads, only difference is that it is brass bro. Everything else, including the washer is the same.
