So whats the deal!!!! Every year we always had mudfest in the lake and it was a good thing, lots of good ol boyz having a blast. The politics of Newiberia always got to fuk up a good thing!!!!! Lets keep it going..........What yall think MuddiGras 2011? Lets get it on Boyz!!! :D

$5000 premium for single event insurance on water for any sponsor of such an event. If 100 participants that's $50 a piece, or you split liability insurance cost among multiple sponsors. I might be willing to sponsor.

What you are saying Dguidry is, if you sponsor a shirt that is worn and someone gets drunk and stupid, the sponsor of the shirt on their back is responsible? Wouldnt the truck that put the boat over be responsable also?

One would like to think that if you own a mud motor, you are the type of individual that can accept responsibility for your own mistakes. But I guess that is possibly giving too much credit to the population as a whole. Speaking from experience, I was put on a MedeVac chopper against my own will after my thumb and the composite plastic chock on my manual trim PD at the time, lost a battle with a stump in reverse. Luckily, it didn't fall into the water and I only had a 30 minute ride back to the hill. However, I was never made aware that it was anyone's fault but my own, nor did I ever contemplate passing the blame to cover my own stupidity. Of course, I was raised to fess up to my actions and take responsibility, even if doing so is admitting to being embarrassingly stupid. Point is, I would hope the mm community is a better group of people than the kind to sue over a hot cup of coffee...if so, sure hope a ride will be planned, even though I might not be able to make it, I would love the opportunity for a repeat since I still remember Muddi Gras 08 as one of the best weekends of my life!!!

If I was unclear of my intent, it was that not enough people take responsibility for their own actions these days and it is truly sad we even have to worry about such a situation arising when discussing a good ol' get together in a centralized location...

Christ what ever happend to some friends getting together for a ride.... I am planning a ride around the Morgan City area for sometime in the near future.... All are welcome but if you are found littering, there will be repercussions.. All will have a good time if they show up with a head on their shoulders... PM for more info...

I can honestly say I have looked at Insurance for all of my events I put on whether it be here on MMT or on my personal fishing club site. I can't afford nor do I have the sponsor involvement (corporate level) to justify spending that much money just for insurance for a single event. I have release forms for tournaments but they would not hold up in any court of law. All boaters are required to have & maintain insurance, if it was some traumatic injury / event then yes a lot of people would be getting in line for being sued.
