Post 17x46 or 18x46 Southfork
I was looking into getting a brand new slick bottom Southfork. I'm unsure about what hull to get the 17X46 or 18X44. I'm not sure if it will be better to have the extra width on the bottom or the extra foot in length. I will be putting a 35hp GTR long transom on it.

Get the GT hull made for your motor. You can thank me later.

Post Re: 17x46 or 18x46 Southfork
I know two guys with southfork slick bottom boats and they do not like them. One of the hulls only has about sixty hours on it and the bottom is shot. This boat is only running in mud and it looks bad.I used his boat and to run by myself I had to tie a bucket of floor glue,12V battery, and 4 dozen dekes on the bow to keep it from porposing and I still had to stand as far foward as I could. They also do not like to run with a load in them, and it didn't take much to load them up.The boats they are running are 16x48 and a 16x54 with GDSD's,so I do not know if the longer hulls will run better.Maybe Bayou boy will let you know how his runs, hope this helps.

This is my 18 46 southfork with a four wheeler, it handled the load really well.

PM sent.

Southfork is a great strong clear water boat and will not stand up to the abuse that it will see running the marshes or flooded timbers. If my washing machine ever goes out I could just flipped my rig over and I bet I can nearly wash a whole load of laundry at one time on it!

Like Poker said get a true mud boat hull. 1/8" bottom w/ longitudinal braces my friend!
