Bottom line to me is, as long as you have a good dealer in your area get whichever motor YOU like. It sucks bumming rides during duck season. That being said, I love my GTR!

Re: 35 Gtr or 35 mud buddy??
98% of the time the planitary gear setup doesn't fail, all clutches fail we've seen that time and time again, but i can tell you this, i have never burnt a clutch up on the 3 GT's that i've owned, i think the reverse gearing soaks up alot of the shock when you slam it into forward at high RPMS, where as when you do that with a mudbuddy the clutch is taking all the force. I've had mine and cracked mudd and got out but it wore me slap out. Stuff is gonna break and if people say my engine broke so this brand sucks is a far cry from the problem. BRiggs is briggs no matter what they sit on from lawnmowers to mud motors. The structure built around the briggs judges craftmanship and quality etc. GTR works for me because i love the all aluminized structure built around the engine. And the fact that they have taken care of me since 2008 before i ever really got involved with them goes along way in my book. I drove one in 2006 and loved it, ever since then i have always wanted one and in late 2008 i was finally able to buy one. I hvae driven other brands and they all serve their purpose but for me its Gator-tail. Thats just the way it is.
If you really want to know a real problem with Mudbuddy its their customer service on the parts end of things. Getting parts in a timely manner is fine but waiting weeks is not cool, especially during duck season. The questions that are asked before they even warranty the thing are unbelievable at times. sometimes question if who ever answers the phone even works for the company. These are my true thoughts, In the service department, if you don't have the parts then say you don't have them, don't lead me on to believe its gonna ship and me be waiting at the front door for mr brown truck to show up like a puppy waiting on its master only to pass my house for weeks at a time. I did a full replacment of a bottom end on a sport, changed it from short shaft to long shaft and waited 3 weeks before i even got the belt. I had everything put together and was just waiting. So if anything they really need to brush up on their parts handling department and shipping. Warranty work is a whole other story.
But know this i can pick up the phone tomorrow and have parts at my house wednesday to be put on when i call GT. They've bailed me out and some friends out 2 3 days before the weekend hunt. My loyalty is with them as is yours with Mudbuddy.

Re: 35 Gtr or 35 mud buddy??
i thought MB offered an instant reverse like GTR but was gear driven like pro drive. I talked to the MB people at their tent at the LA sportsman outdoor expo at lamar dixon and that is exactly what they told me.
i went talk to the GTR people then the MB pretty much laughed in their faces bc of there stupid outrageous prices then walked back to the GTR tent.

Re: 35 Gtr or 35 mud buddy??
Describe to me what you mean by clutch arrangment, cause correct me if i'm wrong, these motors use the same clutch? So in other words are you talking about the clutch engagment switches, because GTR don't have a momentary i mean you can put one but they don't come stock on the motors
