I live in s.c -- we hve extremely low water right now and hundreds of stumps - looking for help figuring out what to buy would be apprec. - these things arent cheap - mainley hunt with 1 250 LB> partner - tight spots where a 1542 war eagle will go but a 1648 u have to pick your spots to get in . not looking for a 30 mph boat with a alot of fatigue handling it -- any suggestions ? thanks |

Seems most people on here prefer longtails for stumps, options are limitless, there are a lot of different boats that come in 42'' widths, and just as many motors that will work. I'm sold on reverse myself, but I don't see why you couldn't go with a smaller hp surface drive for the size rig you are talking about. How far do you have to go, and how much stumps vs. clear water to get there? |

guys - today was rough - went in with a high tide super v with a 40 putting - trimmed all the way up -- coming out against current - had to pull to get back out -- water is clear in the main runs with stumps staggered - most of them i know where thy are till we get in the smaller outlet creeks off the beaten path- was able to run a gator trax with 35 today - 50 inch bottom - it would go but it was a beast to handle with all of those minefields everywhere . thanks for any input - I only know 1 guy with a mud boat and that was it today. |

spoke to kevin in moncks corner sc. today -- suggests a gator trax 1644 with a huntdeck and a mud buddy 36 - electric clutch and power trim -- what you think ? |

Go longer with a 35hp... It will carry more load... PS - I have a 1648 and 35 - there is nothing wrong with that till you try to hunt 3 guys.... The 1848 does FAR better with 3... |

i had a 1644 gatortrax with a mb 35 and it was a good boat and it would hunt 4 people great, just enough room for everybody to shoot comfortably. i could haul me, 2 peeps and a hell of a load 23mph but when i added that 4th guy it sucked, wouldnt get on plane. i sold that boat to a friend that hunts with me just about everytime i go, since he's had it he's added a carb and exhaust and it will now haul a 4 man load no problem. now i run a 1750 huntdeck and its alright, the added width helps on the load but it is a little trickier to drive than the 1644. i dont hit near as many stumps as my buddies in the narrower boats. i think u will be really pleased with the 1644 hd, im even contemplating selling my rig again and going back to a 1644 but with a huntdeck this time. if your running alot of stumps go with a 3/16 hull and the extra bracing u will thank yourself in the end. i didnt know that gatortrax would build a 3/16 hull and regret not knowing that before i bought my second hull in 2 years from em. |

sounds as though everybody appears to like the choice - his quote should be here tommorow - should be around 12.500 with the 35 and 11.300 with the 27 - will keep you informed - thanks |

$ 13,700 with the 35 cdi and $ 13,000 with the 27 kohler -- anybody got something to compare prices - good - fair - bad - prrice ? |
