GTR and FPR are the only needed to apply. All others just go one direction. FORWARD. ;)

Post subject:  Re: Standardization of Who's Got the Fastest Boat?

Its really not about speed. Just trying to do a study on what might make a boat combination more efficient. The title of the thread was just to catch everyone's attention. The data might confirm or refute some propositions about what makes a boat more efficient or faster in any set of parameters one might choose to monitor. You have any suggestions on what parameters I might want to include in addition to those I listed?

Post subject:  Re: Standardization of Who's Got the Fastest Boat?

This will help you guys out. I just used Coe's numbers cuz he posted them up. I want to show you guys an example
http://www.culverprops.com/pitchselection.htm

Fill this end and it will tell you your pitch of a prop for your given RPM, desired speed, given prop Length (diameter), and Gear ratio. Use 1.2:1 for GTR. you guys will be surpised. Below is a cliffs notes, but plug in those numbers and you can figure out wos Lying!

Engine RPM 4000
MPH 30
Reduction Ratio 1.2:1
Prop Length 12

Guess what it calculates you need a 10 pitch prop that assumes NO SLIP. We all know that there is slip in a prop

Just saying that it is hard to belive that a boat will travel 33.5" MPH at 3950 RPMS with a 1.2:1 reduction ratio with a 12x10 prop without slip.. Even though slip is ALWAYS present

Post subject:  Re: Standardization of Who's Got the Fastest Boat?

James ran a 12P and couldn't turn it... I am having an 11P made right now for me... I run better with an 11P. We have been messing with the thickness of the trailing edge of the blade, adding thickness instead of honing it down like powertech does will drop your top end down but prop will last longer in the stuff... just something to think about...

Tony B was helpful in making this boat data entry thread a sticky post in the reviews section. Please take a moment to go to the top of this thread and enter your rigs data. It's pretty detailed and once I get enough data I'll analyze it and report trends regarding performance versus modifications and configurations. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Just a reminder to post you boat's data in the database below my signature if you have new rig or haven't post your old rig's data yet. Now that season is over thought I'd remind everyone. The database is proving very useful to those contemplating new rigs and options.
