Nice rig!!!! I am also interested in how the V is working for you. And if you don't mind, what did the hull cost. I have the extreme 18x54 and would like to have V bow. How long did it take to build? I am thinking of getting a hull like this. |

The vee was sort of an acident. I asked for the pointed bow after placing the order, so it needed to be split to save the length. They did a great job and Kyle was excited about the end result. As far as how the vee performs...the 2' chop was no problem for me, and was fairly dry at full throttle. I don't have a price for the vee mod as it just sort of happened, so Kyle didn't charge. I ordered it just days after July 4th and picked it up Sept 16. |

Not bad for peak build time before season... I like that bow. I need to call Kyle & talk to him about that I cross rough bays & I bet that would help cut through the waves a little better when going into a head sea. |

Post subject: | Re: New 1854 Gator Tail |
I've hit almost everything but straight up mud. I'm thinking the bow won't make much difference, since it gradually flattens out through the rake to the bottom. Thanks for all the compliments, but it's the guys at Gator-Tail that did it right. You should have seen all those boat loads of Mississippi gator hunters looking at us with the "what the hell is that" look. Even the game wardens were paying us nice compliments. |

I caught your screen name and realized your from Carrollton. I made several hunts last year near the McIntire Scatters. My uncle has a camp near near Money and I'm looking forward to making some more trips this year. I really like that area, wish it were closer. I'll try and remember to clock some speeds next trip out. |

yeah the scatters are a really good place to hunt if you know how to work it and their are places you can tear a rig up to thats why i was wonderin bout the 3/16 bottom i know my little rig has got dents all in the bottom but hey it gets me to were i need to go ![]() |

Post subject: | Re: New 1854 Gator Tail |
get a hull well braced with a 3/16 bottom and you have something. Just remember nothing is bullet proof and if you go out and hit and jump everything you see for fun you will tear it up. |

Post subject: | Re: New 1854 Gator Tail |
yeah i hear ya on hitting everything you see but i dont really do that, there is always that one stump you dont see mostly the submerged stumps and i think that a 3/16 bottom well help against that but i know if you hit anything at speed it will put a dent in the boat extra thick or not but i think the 3/16 is a good peice of "insurance" to have if you run stumps |

Post subject: | Re: New 1854 Gator Tail |
I hit lots of stumps, just no too fast, but still hard enough to nearly throw me out. No matter how many I hit, it always surpises me how hard they hit at idle speed. Not a scratch yet. |

Really Really nice lookin boat man! I have that same hull design on my Uncle J. Youre gonna love it! It really doesnt change a thing running in the mud but its so much better in the big water. |

I'm guessing 25 is as fast as I've run. I'm pretty sure my GPS is a little generous, but I'll post it what it says. You'll get an honest report from me...I'm not worried about speed. I was satsified with how it ran with three 200lb guys and gear. |
