Well I have now had my rig for almost 4 months now. It is a 17x54, 3/16th bottom, tapered chine, removable 7ft rod/gun box, removable grab bar with cup holder, drivers box, and flush deck with dry storage. I had never had the chance to drive, ride in, or test any other rigs until i got mine so i figured i would just wait till I had time to put some hours on mine and spend some time around other rigs as well. So far i like everything about it, it has performed great in all the areas i hunt, from rough waters on the causeway and mobile river to the flooded timber at my camp over in Mississippi. The boat floats high and the tapered chine really makes it bite in on sharp turns. Now for the motor, its a GTR 35 with rev. plate and Jason hooked me up with one of Calen's stage 1 kits which is just awesome. Jason told me if i had the extra cash it would be well worth it and i really didnt understand but i said what the hell lets do it. Now being around some stock motors i see it really made a night and day difference. The load carry has surprised me, I knew a 18ft would carry a load better but i usually dont have more than 3 people with me so this is all i need.

As far as speeds, with a little chop going down river with 2 dozen decoys, 12 gals of gas, 50qt yeti with cold snacks, rest of the gear and my fat ass (210 lbs) 33-33.7 @4000- 4100 rmp. I saw a little higher numbers but it was perfect condictions and just blips. Taking the cooler out and adding another person (190 lbs) with gear and dog(60 lbs) really didnt change much, wot was still over 33mph

with water slick as glass down river, 12 gals of gas, myself, a friend (225 lbs), his little brother ( 120 lbs maybe), cooler, and gear 32-32.8 and a few higher blips

Now here was the test, me, 3 other people and the dog went to the camp to hunt Chotard lake and the flooded timber. I was pleased needless to say. We crammed us 4 and the dog( better than 750 lbs), maybe 1/2 tank of gas, our gear, and blind. I had to run it balls to the wall and i had to shift my load around several times till i got it right, saw numbers between 27.4 to 28 .2 blips.

So my hats off to Jason and his crew for the great job they did on my boat and to Calen for the awesome job on my motor and his 100% costomer service

Jason would get a 100% on his customer service but instead he is getting a 95% b/c of his bullshit and trash talk during the BCS national championship........... ROLL TIDE ole boy :D

I'm thinkin about puttin a carb And intake on motor. I have a 35 Gtr with an exhaust on a 18 48 gtb. Carb and intake would complete my stage one is it worth the money? Will the speeds pick up that much?

I am not sure what all Calens stage 1 consists of but it's worth it to me. You will pick up a some speed but your load carry is what it really helps with. I have been thinking about putting on a mikuni carb kit and that will probably be the last thing I do to mine.
