I have been shopping for my first mud motor for quite some time now and finally settled on the copperhead. I have driven a few long tails but never a surface drive so I was constantly going back and forth on which one to get. I called Gil at copperhead and he had a used 12hp with camo, remote fuel, and electric start for a good price. I've read nothing but great things about Gil and copperhead on here so I decided to go ahead and order it. I had a few bugs with bad gas left over in the tank and a leaky fuel line on my part when I first went out. I straightened all that out and I couldn't be happier. I had me (160 lbs) and a buddy (210 lbs) full fuel tank, battery, and some other crap in deep water and the motor was pushing us at 20mph. Ran through some weeds, vegetation, and shallow waters with ease. I put slick bottom on my boat which helps it out a lot. So if you are thinking about getting a small surface drive check out Copperhead.

That's a very serviceable looking rig. I'd love to have one just like it.

I worked on the boat here and there when I had time doing paint, slick bottom, wiring, and finally decided on a motor about 5 months later, I cant complain yet...

I like the bow ornament! lol..I can't get rid of my toys I'm selling to buy me a copperhead fast enough. I am going to try and hold out for a used one I think being that I'm on a college mans budget. Looks like a great setup.
